Description

Forest School Level 3
In response to numerous requests, Mindstretchers is excited to be able to offer the chance to gain a qualification in forest school style programming in Australia in 2018. Join Kate Hookham, from Mindstretchers, and a team of Australian trainers to complete a leadership qualification in Forest School designed for Australian culture and practice.

The leadership award at level 3 provides you with the policies, procedures, knowledge and some skills to set up an effective Forest School or Bush School Programme. Our international course includes a cultural module that is not assessed.

Claire Warden and Australian colleagues have adapted the UK course to fully embrace the Australian context. This international qualification has a comprehensive assessment through a portfolio that demonstrates practical skills, knowledge of theorists, sustainability, inclusionary practices and risk management. You will also create a handbook of materials to support staff.

The course involves:
5 days training per person
Completion and submission of a portfolio to achieve your qualification

The course includes:
Your registration with the awarding body
5 days of face to face training
Learning materials
Local support from Australian trainers and online support from Kate

Criteria:
Minimum age 19 years and experience in Forest School, youth work or education advised.
Must have an up to date Outdoor Paediatric First Aid certificate by the end of the course

Portfolio Submission:
You will have one year to complete your submission

Mindstretchers believes in equal opportunities and supports candidates to present evidence through a range of techniques; video, written portfolio, artistic representation and Floorbooks®. All candidates are introduced to the approach created by Claire Warden entitled Talking and Thinking Floorbooks® and Talking Tubs™, which support key learning associated with Forest School themes and many aspects of the Curriculum, and support the transfer of information and methodology back to the school.
