International law in foreign policy & the role of the Legal Adviser
Wed 30 November 2016, 16:30 – 19:00
The 2016 Josephine Onoh Lecture in International Law will be given by Iain Macleod. Iain Macleod is Legal Adviser and Head of the Legal Directorate in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), responsible for the provision of advice to the FCO on legal, treaty, maritime, and some parliamentary issues. At a time when international law is increasingly in the spotlight, Iain’s experiences of working at the heart of British government will make for a highly stimulating lecture.
The lecture will be followed by a wine reception.
This is the 28th Annual Onoh Lecture, supported by the family of former Hull law student Josephine Onoh and delivered by some of the world’s most eminent international lawyers. Recent lecturers have included Professor Sir Malcolm Evans, Dr Rosalie Balkin, Judge Julia Sebutinde (ICJ) and Professor Malcolm Shaw QC.
