Description

Thank you for interest in submitting an abstract for the 1st International Conference on Place and the Place Standard.

The event will consider, celebrate and seek to further progress effective place based approaches across Scotland, the UK and internationally highlighting the importance of this way of working to improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities. It will bring together a wide range of participants across communities and the public, private and voluntary sector.

Abstracts are invited for poster presentation, 20 minute presentation or 90 minute workshop.

All require to consider one or more of the following themes: -

Shared Language & Culture

Demonstrate how place based approaches have enabled communities and professionals to develop a shared vision and purpose via the dialogue and structure offered when utilising structured place making processes and tools such as the place standard.

Physical Environment

Demonstrate how place based approaches and/or tools link diverse physical environments and the wider geographical boundaries of communities. How those differences and variations are managed to ensure the priorities of the community are identified, prioritised and acted on.

Social Environment

Highlight the empowerment opportunities for communities when using a place based approach and/or tools to develop resilience, capacity building and engagement across different neighbourhoods, cultures, life stages and populations where services have failed to engage successfully with.

Design Environment

Highlight how place based approaches and/or tools enable at the design stage of a project to greater participation of all involved with consideration for the impact on the wider environment and those communities affected by that design.
