Event description

Description

This event at SPRU marks the release of two publications: a major new report from the International Panel on Social Progress (IPSP) and a special issue of Technology's Stories, the online platform of the Society of the History of Technology. It is an opportunity to draw out key themes from both publications, to reflect on these crucial perspectives on science, technology and innovation, how they are deeply implicated with how we frame and assess social progress, and influence where we go from here.

Guest speakers include

Helga Nowotny (Professor emeritus of Social Studies of Science, ETH Zurich)

Judith Sutz (Professor and Academic Coordinator of the University Research Council of the Universidad de le Republica, Uruguay)

Suzanne Moon (University of Oklahoma - Editor-in-Chief, Technology and Culture)

Thes speakers will be joined by SPRU colleagues and co-authors of these publications:

Johan Schot (Director of SPRU)

Andy Stirling (Professor of Science & Technology Policy, SPRU)
