About this event:

Join us this autumn for a two-day inaugural International Postgraduate Veterinary Education (PGVE) symposium. The first of its kind, this unique event will kick start the development of an international community of practice dedicated to leading, engaging in, reporting, and sharing high-quality veterinary educational scholarship, research, and innovation - enhancing the satisfaction, motivation, engagement, and wellbeing of veterinary professionals around the globe.

Who should attend:

The symposium is open to all those with an interest in advancing veterinary postgraduate education. We particularly welcome those who are actively involved in the support and training of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses from graduation onwards, and those interested in enhancing the satisfaction and wellbeing of the workforce through best practice education.

Format and programme highlights:

The symposium will be based around four overarching topics, each representing the possible stages within a veterinary professional’s career where education and training may play an important role.

These are:

  • Graduate transition into the profession
  • Advanced education and training (post graduate qualifications, internships, and residencies)
  • Continuing education and professional development
  • Licensure and revalidation

The programme will feature a number of inspiring presentations delivered by educational leaders from both veterinary and the health professions. Confirmed speakers include Professor John Norcini, Professor Olle ten Cate, Professor Lambert Schuwirth, Professor Suzanne Chamberlain and Professor Martin Cake.

The event is split across two days, with an additional pre-symposium workshop and networking day for those interested in contributing to the further development of the community of practice.

  • Pre-symposium workshop - Monday, 17 November 2025 at Hardwick Street, 1 Hardwick Street, London, EC1N 4RB

  • PGVE symposium - Tuesday, 18 and Wednesday, 19 November 2025 at Ironmongers’ Hall, Off Shaftesbury Pl, Aldersgate St, Barbican, London EC2Y 8AA

There will be an opportunity to network throughout the event.
