Event description

Description

A working group just for members of SWIDN who directly manage an international development or humanitarian programme.

11.30-12.30 - Qualitative Impact Protocol (QuIP)

QuIP is an approach to impact assessment which puts respondents’ perceptions of change at the heart of the research, and aims to make qualitative data collection and analysis more rigorous, accessible and effective for learning.

QuIP is a systematic approach to gathering, coding and presenting qualitative data that helps organisations to understand their contribution to change in the context of other factors which also contribute to change. It uses open-ended, exploratory questioning to probe what drives change in different areas of people’s lives, and the resulting outcomes.

BSDR has developed a systematic approach to coding qualitative data, making it easier to interrogate
and analyse findings in an interactive reporting dashboard, making evaluation findings much more
accessible to project delivery teams, senior managers and funders.

The session will include:

- Key principles of QuIP methodology
- An overview of QuIP’s three step coding approach
- How to use the data for effective analysis
- Options for further training to use QuIP
