Join TORCH and the Public Health Film Society on Friday 4th December 2020 at 12 noon (UK time) for the UK premiere of this year’s award winning films from the International Public Health Film Competition.

These films-makers present the best health-related stories told through film this year, from over 1700 submissions across 112 countries.

Judges Prize – MANUEL by Javier Robles Álvarez

A beautifully shot short story by first time film-maker Javier Robles Álvarez. The film was shot almost entirely in a one building across from the film-maker’s house during the tight lockdown restrictions of the first pandemic wave in Spain. It tells the story of Manuel, a man who lives far from his family, immersed in a routine from which he can't escape. It is a sensitive and thought provoking reflection about family time and forgetting.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Javier and Laura Villamisar, the producer and cinematographer

Best COVID film - Buonanotte/Goodnight by Yohana Ambros

A moving personal tale of being homelessness in Milan, the epicentre of the first wave of the pandemic in Europe. Yohana’s Vlog style film shows a day in the life of a homeless video maker and her dogs as they struggle to get meal to eat and a place to shelter.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Yohana
