Join us for the first Wales International Sector meeting – and a special Christmas party!

Temple of Peace, Cardiff – Wednesday 14 December

Do you see your organisation as part of the International Sector in Wales?

If so, please come to our very first International Sector Network meeting – with chances to meet DfID and join in our Third Sector Christmas party, all on the same day.

Part 1 – 1.00-3.00pm
For people interested in international development or Wales-Africa partnerships

George McLaughlin from the Department for International Development (DfID) will join us to discuss DfID’s latest Civil Society Partnership Review. This will be an opportunity for colleagues to find out more about DfID’s future objectives and approach to partnership with civil society organisations.

Karen Stephenson from Mannion Daniels - UK Aid Direct Fund Manager, will discuss the latest UK Aid Direct funding round and will be available to answer questions afterwards.

Free to attend

Background information

The WCIA represents the sector on the Third Sector Partnership Council (TSPC), which is the main mechanism for charities and voluntary groups to get their voices heard by Welsh Government. We’re looking to play this role more effectively by getting a stronger insight into your priorities and concerns. We can then take these issues to the TSPC and to the working groups that meet with the government’s Cabinet Secretaries. In this way, TSPC gives us a stronger collective voice and allows us to collaborate more effectively with other sectors.

At this first International Sector Network meeting, we want to define the sector’s priorities collectively, but examples may include: promoting global learning; encouraging strong action on the global goal within the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act; welcoming refugees; and ensuring that the Welsh Government prioritises involvement in overseas work.

It’s a chance for us to define ourselves more clearly as a sector, agree on a good approach to TSPC representation, and of course to network with like-minded organisations.

If the event is successful, we plan to organise a further meeting in North Wales.

Rydym yn gobeithio gwneud y rôl hon yn fwy effeithiol trwy well dealltwriaeth o’ch blaenoriaethau a’ch pryderon. Gallwn fynd â’r materion hyn i’r TSPC ac i’r gweithgorau sy’n cwrdd ag Ysgrifenyddion Cabinet y llywodraeth. Yn y modd hwn, mae’r TSPC yn rhoi llais ar y cyd cryfach i ni ac yn caniatáu i ni gyd-weithio’n fwy effeithiol gyda sectorau eraill.
