Event description

Description

Most social entrepreneurs are motivated by the social impact their work generates; however this is often juxtaposed with the need to generate enough income to survive. On one hand, the prevailing neoliberal capitalist mode of production is often accused of lacking a humane face as it is exclusively motivated by profit margins, at all cost. On the other hand, social good premised on charity is not sustainable; and state interventionist redistribution of wealth does not often yield the efficiency, productivity and social impact it is meant to generate. This conference will be a creative space to show how social entrepreneurship can both do social good and be profitable to those who engage in it. The conference will be linked to the Leicester Business starting 16th November 2017

Objectives:-
1. To explore the theoretical frameworks underpinning social entrepreneurship and the nexus between profit and social good.
2. To showcase great examples of successful social entrepreneurships
3. To create a networking space for upcoming social entrepreneurs
4. To share ideas of successfully setting up social enterprises.
