International Women in Engineering Day Celebrations

Abertay University and our Student Interconnect Champion - Ailsa Howie invites you to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day with us.

Please note - You're more than welcome to attend the event even if you don't wish to enter the poster competition.

Provisional Itinerary:

  • 2pm - Arrival and registration

  • 2.15pm - Welcome from Prof Liz Bacon, Vice-principal (Academic) Abertay

  • 2.30pm - Poster Competition Winners Announced

  • 2.45pm - Guest speaker - ‘Women’s Work: The Role of Gender in Science’ by Dr Camilla Mørk Røstvik, St Andrews University

  • 3.30pm - Movie screening in HMC Cinema: Hidden Figures

  • 5.30pm - Networking over coffees and cakes


A Little Known Hero/Heroine of STEM Poster Competition 2019

The competition is open to all ages! Posters to be A3 and submitted by midnight of 7/6/19. There will be prizes for the winners!

Last year we had over 100 entries. The prizes, courtesy of Institution of Civil Engineers local branch, were £40, £30 and £20 in amazon vouchers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, over a number of different categories.

Posters will be displayed at Abertay between the 17th till the 21st of June. The winners will be announced at the International Women in Engineering Day event on Friday the 21st of June.
