The Universal Peace Federation - UK would like to invite you to our annual commemoration of International Women's Day. The theme this year is BeBoldForChange which is important because the World Economic Forum predicts that without bold change the gender gap won't close entirely until 2186.
Each one of us - with women and men joining forces - can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking bold pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity. Through purposeful collaboration, we can help women advance and unleash the limitless potential offered to economies the world over.'
Imagine a world where a female, no matter her age, can participate in politics, receive an education, have her own income, and dress and speak with no fear of discrimination or violence. Imagine a world of equality and acceptance. The greatest achievements, accomplishments, studies, movements, amongst others all began with the start of an idea. It was the dedication and free will of the individual and/or groups to spread their ideas that make it into reality. They made it happen.
This year’s International Women’s Day will highlight the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, signed 20 years ago by 189 governments that set an agenda for realising the importance of women’s rights. Despite having there been achievements, serious gaps still remain. From 20 years ago, technology has advanced; the internet being readily available has made it possible for people to communicate on an international level without being limited. There is a call for action to address the issues of women’s rights, the call to make it happen.
Universal Peace Federation honours International Women’s Day by holding an annual event to address the inclusion and equality of females in the modern world. Topics that have been covered in the past include domestic abuse, trafficking, highlighting women’s political and economic participation, and violence against women. This is the opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate, honour, and take action.
Kindly register through the 'Attend this Event' button above. Places are limited. We are looking forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a very meaningful event.
