About this Event

The theme of International Women’s Day 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. This is a rallying cry for everybody to challenge gender inequality wherever they see it. This year, the Town Square team are coming together with Hanna Andersen, Founder of AS WE ARE, to bring you a day of events that will explore the ways in which we can all take action to increase women’s participation in business.

In recent years we’ve seen a boom in women starting businesses. For many, their business begins as a talent or a hobby and grows from there. There are some who believe that these businesses are never anything more than a hobby, a point of view that could potentially see us missing out on huge potential.

We want to challenge this stereotype, so we’re chatting to Polly Vadasz, illustrator and Founder of Sighh Studio, a giftware brand specialising in beautifully functional stationery and accessories to help you navigate everyday life.

Join us to hear about Polly went from sketching phone case art work at age 17, to now running a successful Manchester studio. We’ll talk about how much more there is to running her business than simply designing, and also dig into what it’s been like to build and manage a team.
