British Rafting International Women's Day Raft Race, Fresstyle & BoaterX events
All aimed to promote and encourage women in paddlesports.


The event runs over the weekend of Saturday, 10th and Sunday, 11th March 2018. Individual competitor registration opens on Friday, 09th March. Pre-registration forms will be emailed to ticket purchasers in February - please complete and return these forms before registration to ensure a quick registration process for everyone.


The Raft Race competition will broadly follow International Rafting Federation (IRF) race rules (see note below on H2H format). Depedent on numbers of teams and weather conditions, competition will take place in Sprint, Head-to-Head, Slalom and Downriver (Endurance).

Head-to-Head race format:
Deviation from the currently published IRF Race Rules will apply to Head-to-Head format. We will be adopting the currently proposed changes to the IRF Race Rules. These are:


The Raft Race is open to all men's and women's raft race teams. Women's teams will compete in age categories according to IRF Race Rules - men's teams will all compete in a single Open category.


Freestlye event:
Tickets will be released later in December. Open to both men and women.

Boater Cross:
Tickets will be released in January. Open to both men and women.

Accomodation in local Youth Hostel:
Single beds in dormitory rooms (including breakfast) can be purchased for £33 (GBP) per night per person until mid January. Rooms sleep from 2 - 8 people. Rooms will be allocated per country where possible.
The Youth Hostel is approximately 10/15 minute drive or 30 minute walk from Lee Valley White Water Centre

What's included in the ticket price?
Team (four competitors plus substitute or coach/manager) tickets include:

  • Competitor place in all race categories
  • Tea/coffee/snacks on Saturday and Sunday
  • Saturday evening meal
  • Saturday evening awards ceremony and speaker/presentation

Supporter (additional team members, coaches, managers, supporters, parents etc) tickets include:

  • Tea/coffee/snacks on Saturday and Sunday
  • Saturday evening meal
  • Saturday evening awards ceremony and speaker/presentation

There is no fee to simply attend and watch - Supporter tickets are meant for those wishing to partake in the food/socialising.


Accomodation is NOT included in team or supporter ticket - accommodation at the local Youth Hostel can be purchased separately. Alternative accommodation can be booked separately - options will be shared on the Facebook event.


Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All competitors will need to prove their identity including their age at event registration. For clarity: U19, U23 and Masters must be within the age category at the date of the competition. Age is taken to be the age that the team member turns in the year of competition.


Do I need to bring identification documents?
Yes, all competitors must provide proof of age (valid passport, drivers' licence, birth certificate)



What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking onsite at Lee Valley White Water Centre will be free to all competitors.
Closest National Rail is Waltham Cross or Cheshunt stations.
Closest airports (in order of distance) are London Stansted, London Luton, London City, London Heathrow, London Gatwick


What's the refund policy?
