Event description

Description

Is a smart contract a legal contract in the eyes of the law? If not, can it be made so with careful work?

The Internet Of Agreements Conference brings together the finest minds in the field to discuss the present and future of smart contract technology and the legalities of applying smart contracts in the real world, in areas like managing intellectual property and real estate.

Over the course of the event, we will discuss the life cycle of a smart contract from legal definition through to formal verification, dispute resolution and legal settlement.

You’ll get a chance to hear from an interdisciplinary set of experts with plenty of time to get in to real depth at the unconference and hackdays events that will precede the formal conference.

Hosted by Digital Catapult, a four minute walk from King's Cross station, this conference will bring together the business leaders, technological innovators and policy makers that will shape the future of smart contracts and the blockchain for the next decade. Hexayurt Capital, the team behind the conference, are well known as industry thought leaders and visionaries in the blockchain space.

The conference consists of three seperate events, which we've separated out in to individual tickets. Please choose the tickets for which individual events you would like to attend. If you would like to attend everything, please choose all three.

Schedule:

Friday 13th October:

Unconference, 09:00 - 17:00. IoA is still a new idea - the unconference is an opportunity to understand it better and start to define and shape how it looks in the real world. We hope to hear from those already active in the space to present their ideas and suggest new allied projects or partnerships that might be useful. The agenda is entirely driven by you, but we would expect you to come away afterwards better able to answer some of these questions:

What should IoA be?

What shouldn't it be?

How will it support you and your work?

In our wildest dreams what would be possible?

What's standing in the way of it happening right now?

What else is needed to make it easier?

What is no-one thinking about but you?

Come prepared to be surprised and to work on some knotty problems.

Saturday 14th - Sunday 15th October:

Hackdays, 09:30 - 16:00 Sat & Sun. Monzo, 230 City Road, EC1V 2QY. Saturday and Sunday are intended to be more practical hackdays for working on issues and prototype projects. At this early stage, we don't expect there to be a great deal of actual code written or functional prototypes built (go on, surprise us!). Rather it's a time for people from different disciplines to come together, decide on some problem they'd like to solve and get stuck in to hacking away at a solution.

Maybe you've already got a project team working on something relevant that could benefit some creative collaboration or perhaps you're looking for the opportunity to bring your own knowledge together with others to make something new. You're all welcome. Both days will start with a process for identifying problem areas and forming teams around them and close with presentations of work done during the day.

These Hackdays will be held at the offices of our partner, Monzo, at 230 City Road, EC1V 2QY

Monday 16th October:

Conference, 09:00 - 17:00. This full day of talks and discussions will bring together the best minds in the sector in applying the revolutionary smart contract technology to the everyday problems of business and government.

Already announced speakers include: Imogen Heap of Mycelia, Michael Mainelli of the Z/Yen Group, Stephen Diehl of Adjoint, and Vinay Gupta & Rob Knight of Mattereum. More will be announced in the coming week.

Over the course of these four days, we will discuss the life cycle of a smart contract from legal definition through to formal verification, dispute resolution and legal settlement.

Join us, and be a part of The Internet Of Agreements.
