Event description

Description

The Internet of Things (IoT) offers great scope for connecting a whole host of electronic sensors to the Internet, turning “things” into intelligent assets that communicate with the world around them. Currently, there are growing numbers of sensors becoming connected to each other and generating and transmitting an enormous volume of messages. However, this availability of data brings with it new challenges in how best to handle and interpret the sheer volume and diversity of that data.

Soitron are specialists in enterprise IT Service Management (ITSM) and work with many blue-chip companies to create and sustain IT process automation. They have an interest in the capture and presentation of the high volume of sensor messages that may be transmitted in different ways. Soitron are working to provide easy ways to handle the volume of messages and translate them into meaningful and usable information to the end customer with ITSM processes and tools which are already in place and familiar.

In this seminar, Soitron will describe how they have recently worked with Spanish company IoTIFY on the simulation of sensor messaging as applied to a Smart City implementation and will issue a call to the sensor community for collaborative partners to move this simulation work into reality.

Who should attend

If you are

  • active in sensor developments with a particular application in Smart Cities
  • interested to collaborate and join a consortia bidding for Smart City provider status

then we would you urge you to join us at this event to learn more.

Aims and Objectives

To form alliances with UK-based sensor and robotics specialists; understand the API’s, protocols and messages being made available; raise awareness of the ITSmart+ consortium and opportunities to collaborate to take forward a suitable, readily usable Smart City platform.

Expected Outcomes

Attendance at this event will

  • provide you with an understanding of how blue-chip organisations operate their IT Service Management and how they would like to incorporate sensors and robotics alongside more traditional IT assets;
  • illustrate how simulation approaches can be used to map out Smart City solutions;
  • provide you with an opportunity to build collaborative partnerships with a view to incorporation in tenders for Smart City provider status
