Description

Research Seminar Series 2017 / 2018 Semester 1

Professor Nicky Stanley, Dr Christine Barter, Dr Khatidja Chantler, Dr Rachel Robbins and Professor Lorraine Radford

The Connect Centre researchers will present four short papers exploring interpersonal violence and intersectionality. We will examine the multiple identities and challenges for victims of interpersonal violence from marginalised groups and locations. Focusing on the experiences of young people in same-sex relationships, male victims of forced marriage and domestic violence victims in rural and seaside settings yield some key messages for those planning interventions and for researchers.

The four papers are:

  • Interpersonal Violence and Abuse in Young People’s Same Sex Relationships, Dr Christine Barter

  • Male Victims of Forced Marriage, Dr Khatidja Chantler

  • “That wouldn’t happen in Manchester”: Domestic Violence in a UK rural community, Dr Rachel Robbins

  • The Transience Challenge for Domestic Violence Early Help Services, Professor Lorraine Radford

Seminar is free. All welcome. Refreshments provided.
