Thinking intersectionally can transform our understanding of the obstacles Black and Asian people face if they’re female, disabled, old, young, gay, or lesbian.

It can shine a spotlight on the double discrimination faced by Black women or older Asian people.

But is all this talk of intersectionality really a way to avoid talking about core issues like racism? Are some issues easier to talk about - making others easy to hide? How do we address intersectionality without feeling that other issues have been diluted?

This provocative and interactive seminar will tackle these questions head on.

Internationally recognised diversity expert Dr Doyin Atewologun will unpack what ‘intersectionality’ really means and guide us through the fractious debate about its role in progressing equality. You’ll also have the opportunity to question Dr Atewologun yourself.

Dr Doyin Atewologun is Director of Delta Alpha Psi, the leadership and inclusion consultancy. She is also an Honorary Fellow of Trinity College (Oxford University) and was previously Director of the Gender, Leadership, and Inclusion Centre at Cranfield School of Management.

Dr Atewologun has worked with many of the FTSE 100, United Nations agencies, legal and other professional services firms, and the UK Civil Service for over 15 years. She is a member of the UK nationally-convened Health & Wellbeing Response Taskforce for COVID-19 NHS staff. Her awards include being recognised in People Management magazine’s Top 20 Diversity and Inclusion ‘Power List’ for 2020, and winning Inspiring Board Leader of the Year award at the Precious Awards in 2019.
