Event Details

This UK Parliament Week, the UK Parliament Education and Engagement Service are hosting a series of Jubilee Room talks, FREE for anyone who wants to find out more about how the UK Parliament works, and how to get involved.

ParliREACH is the Workplace Equality Network to support issues relevant to race, ethnicity and cultural heritage for people working in the UK Parliament. As a new initiative for this year, it has launched a discussion forum on ‘Intersectionality’.

Intersectionality is the interconnected nature of social categorizations (race, class, sexuality and gender) as they apply to an individual or group, creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.

The ParliREACH Intersectionality Forum will create the first forum in UK Parliament for discussion on issues related to intersectionality. This will complement the work of ParliREACHin fulfilling its objective to make UK Parliament a place its members are comfortable to work in and confident to discuss issues relating to race, ethnicity and cultural heritage.

The Forum with explore intersectional issues in general, initially with a specific focus on gender identity and race.

Join us in our enlightening discussion. We believe that through an awareness of intersectionality, we can better acknowledge and ground/understand the differences among us.

There are limited places at this event and places are available on a first come first served basis. If a waiting list is formed then this will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, places are non-transferable.
