Event Information
Description
Inter/sections: Symbiosis at the intersection of arts and science, a symposium on interdisciplinary research. A discussion of innovative research from the Media and Arts Technology programme at Queen Mary, University of London.
Artistic and technical practices have much to offer one another, yet still so often remain curiously separate. In the MAT program we combine art making, design and performance disciplines with a high level of technical and engineering skills to produce research that asks new questions and seeks innovative solutions. We believe that collaboration and interdisciplinary research will contribute to solving the challenges presented by our changing and connected world.
For our inaugural symposium we are discussing symbiosis in arts, media, science and technology. This is a reflection on how research observes the changing link between ourselves, technology, and our perception of the world. We will discuss the broad research conducted within MAT and how this research is adding to the dialogue of change. To investigate this concept on the day, conversations around the nature of interactivity, empowerment and associated research methodologies hope to build an understanding of current research and uncover future avenues of exploration within the Symbiosis of Media, Arts, Science, and Technology.
