Event description

Description

As part of the Dark Skies Festival 2018, enjoy a guided walk and talk with experts on hand to help you learn about the history of the Ironstone Railway and the starlit dark skies above Rosedale.

The walk involves a fairly steep hill up to the Rosedale Railway and you are advised to have sturdy walking footwear, warm clothing, hat and gloves, waterproof jacket and a torch. Binoculars would be beneficial. A welcome hot drink and cake at Dale Head Farm rounds off the evening.

This event forms part of This Exploited Land of Iron – a heritage project telling the story of a forgotten period of ironstone mining and railway construction that left its mark across the North York Moors, especially in Rosedale. See www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/landofiron for more information. Funded by the National Lottery, David Ross Foundation, North York Moors National Park, and various other partners.

Not accessible by wheelchair.
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Sorry, no dogs. All children to be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age: 8.

Booking essential. For more information call 01439 772738 or go to www.darkskiesnationalparks.org.uk
