This activity involves collecting seeds from seagrass that has washed up on the shoreline. We will then sit on the seawall overlooking the estuary to sort the seeds. The seeds are quite small, so if you need reading glasses, it might be worth bringing them along! Please also bring wellies or wetsuit shoes to allow you to paddle in the water to collect the seagrass.
You will then have the option to go out onto the mudflats to carry out some surveys and collect seeds straight from the bed. This activity involves walking out onto the mudflats wearing snowshoes and using bodyboards to minimise our impact. Therefore good balance and stability is helpful.
There is potential to get very muddy, so if you are interested in participating in this activity please bring an old pair of waterproof trousers and a coat that you don't mind getting dirty. Please also bring either wellies, walking boots, or above-the-ankle wetsuit boots. If your shoes are a bit lose, an extra pair of thick socks can be helpful as the mud can be very sticky at times.
Please specify if you are interested in the mud-based activity when you are booking your ticket so we can make sure we bring enough kit with us!
There is free on-street parking around the site, but there are no public toilets, so please bare this is mind. The closest public toilets on your way into Torpoint at Thanckes Park.
