Event description
Do you consider yourself a sex worker & are you also a student/ex-student at a Scottish university or college? We'd love to hear your voice.

About this Event

Do you identify as a sex worker and are a student or ex-student of a college or university in Scotland? We want to hear your voice on the creation of a new gender-based violence (GBV) Charter for Scottish Universities & Colleges. If you are from the UK, please do sign up so we can include your interview in the future research stages.

We know that sex work is increasing among student populations and young people, and that sex workers are often excluded from research processes and face serious stigma and discrimination. We want to ensure your voice is heard on the subject of GBV.

Have you ever experienced rape, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, domestic violence, coercive control, stalking, cyberstalking, revenge pornography, sexual harassment or abuse during your time in education? Or are you interested in discussions on GBV and sex work? What barriers and specific challenges do sex worker students face in accessing support after experiencing violence? Would you go to your university - why not? Where do you turn after bad experiences?

Your interview will follow a strict code of confidentiality and security. You will be interviewed by a female, sex worker-inclusive feminist researcher. Your contributions will be entirely anonymous. Any email communication with you will be permanently erased.

You'll receive a £15 Just Eat voucher or Amazon for taking part plus signposting advice if you need help around areas such as COVID-19 financial recovery. Contact the researcher, Poppy, with any questions or concerns: pgerrard@ed.ac.uk
