About this Event
Join leading international Intimacy Coordinator and Founder of Intimacy on Set, Ita O’Brien (Normal People, I May Destroy You, The Great, Sex Education 1&2, Watchman - TV Series) for two workshops exploring the ground-breaking new role of Intimacy Coordinator.
Intimacy On Set Guidelines for Educators. This would include directors, producers, teachers and those responsible for creating safe enviroments in youth settings.
This workshop will share with educators, including Heads of Department, teaching staff of acting, improvisation, voice, movement and choreography, visiting lecturers and professionals, the ethos of the Intimacy on Set Guidelines, with the focus on open communication, agreement and contest and clear choreography. The sessions will include:
● Developing safe practises: working with students, staff and visiting practitioners.
● Clear intimacy working guidelines for rehearsals and production in theatre, film and TV.
● Tools for separating out the personal self and the professional self.
● Incorporating the ethos of agreement and consent across the school as a whole.
● Further awareness of social distancing rules due to Covid and Government health guidelines, and how these will affect processes and protocols when working with intimacy.
This course will be a four hour sharing of the work, delivered over 2 x 2hr sessions. Session One will be sharing the Intimacy on Set Guidelines and their practical implementation, and Session Two will open up to further discussion, with questions and a focus on consolidation and ownership.
Intimacy On Set Guidelines for Practitioners
This workshop is for professional practitioners, including producers, directors, actors, assistant directors, and stage managers in theatre, film and TV, wishing to incorporate best practice when working with intimacy. The sessions will introduce participants to the Intimacy on Set Guidelines, and the role of Intimacy Coordinator.
The sessions will also include:
● The implementation of the Intimacy on Set Guidelines, exploring the ethics of working with intimacy, from the auditioning process, rehearsals and performance.
● Key insights into how to approach intimacy, simulated sex scenes and nudity for Film and Television.
● Covid Filming Guidelines and how these will affect processes and protocols when working with intimacy on stage or on set.

About Ita O’BrienIta O'Brien is the UK’s leading Intimacy Coordinator and founder of Intimacy on Set, which provides services to TV, film, & theatre when dealing with intimacy, sexual content, and nudity. About Louise KemptonLouise Kempton is an experienced Movement Director and Intimacy Coordinator who has been working with Intimacy on Set since 2018. As a key member of the IoS team, Louise has been instrumental in developing IoS’s 2020 education programme, regularly delivering intimacy workshops to top drama and film schools throughout the UK including London Film School, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Kempton also regularly teaches movement at Guildhall and Mountview, as well as being a guest practitioner at various colleges including RADA, Arts Ed and St Mary's University.
A graduate of Rose Bruford College and with an MA in Movement from Guildhall School, Kempton has 15 years of industry experience. Her Intimacy Coordinator credits for Intimacy on Set include The Great (Hulu), Brave New World (NBC Universal), After Dark (Burning Reel), Lady Chatterley’s Lover (Tilted Wig).
About Intimacy on SetIntimacy on Set was established in 2018 by Ita O’Brien in response to the growing demand for Intimacy Directors/Coordinators for Theatre, Film and Television and teaching in Drama Schools. At the heart of the organisation are the Intimacy on Set Guidelines which have been adopted widely in the industry. Intimacy on Set provides experienced Intimacy Directors/Coordinators to international productions, are training the next generation of Intimacy Directors (theatre) and Coordinators (film & TV) for the global Industry, as well as working with the leading Drama Schools, and sharing the Guidelines with staff and students alike to embed best practice into each organisations' ethos.
