About this event

Sports & Fitness • Snow Sports

Join us at our Covent Garden store for a unique experience showcasing the Altitude Centre's expertise in preparing individuals for extreme conditions. Have you ever wondered what it feels like to climb some of the world's most epic peaks, like Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro, or Denali? Now you can feel the effects of high altitude right here in London.

The Altitude Centre is bringing its generator to our store, offering you a completely free chance to test your limits and get a firsthand look at how they help people train to perform at their best. From midday to 6:30 PM, you can try out the altitude simulation. Just make sure to wear your active clothing and be ready to put on a mask.

Later in the evening, the real journey begins. Join us for an panel talk hosted by George Longsdale featuring The Altitude Centre and two Team Montane Athletes, Jon Shield and Tasha Brook. This is your chance to hear firsthand how they leverage altitude training to push past their limits and prepare for demanding expeditions. Discover how they maximise their personal performance and learn practical tips you can apply to your own adventures, from conquering your local trails to scaling iconic peaks. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights that could be the key to unlocking your next big adventure.

Jon Shield:

Jon specialises in running the most brutal races in the most extreme environments on the planet, predominantly self-sufficient multi stage races. Jon had an injury from a night time parachute jump which curtailed his military career before it really got started and stopped him running for years with surgeries which didn’t help. After seeing many people regarding the issues, he found a physiotherapist who pieced the jigsaw back together and got him running just over 3 years ago. Since then, he’s been making up for lost time!

Tasha Brook:

Tasha is a nurse and serving Captain in the Army Reserves. She has led medical planning for high-altitude expeditions and worked with the RAF Mountain Rescue. Tasha holds the International Diploma in Mountain Medicine and has most recently helped establish a preventative medicine and search-and-rescue initiative in the Pamir Mountain range of Kyrgyzstan. With personal summits up to 8,000m, she shares powerful stories of resilience and performance in extreme environments.

Nick Hart:Performance in Environmental Extremes Specialist

Nick has supported over 70 successful expeditions to 8,000m summits, including 40 Everest summits, as well as over 40 finishers of the renowned Marathon des Sables (MDS). He has a deep understanding of the physiological and psychological demands of these environments, using science-based strategies to optimise performance, mitigate risks, and ensure success.
