Intramuscular Injection Training - Southern House, Otterbourne

About this Event
Please only book for this IM injection training if you meet the criteria for the vaccinator role (NVQ/QCF level 3 in a relevant health or care subject, an equivalent level of work experience, or advanced first aid training) or you have a professional registration (GMC, NMC, HCPC, GPhC, GDC) in need of intra-muscular injection training .
This intra-muscular injection face to face training aims to deliver practical operational skills in delivering an IM injection using the deltoid muscle. As part of your development you will also be given the opportunity to access a helpful on line learning package that will supplement the face to face training. You will be provided with the link for this online learning by the STP Workforce Team as part of your development. Please note - you do not have to have to have completed your online learning to attend this session.
This practical session will cover the following:
• Procedure for checking prescription and drawing up and administering injections;
• Safety in handling and disposing of sharps;
• Locating the deltoid muscle;
• Use of the ‘Z tracking technique’
• Practice delivering injections;
• Question and answer session;
This training will take place in Southern House, Health Education England, Otterbourne, Winchester, Hants, SO21 2RU

• Please arrive about ten minutes before your session.
• Please bring your own mask with you for this area and maintain normal social distancing etc.
• Please note windows may be open to allow ventilation of the training room, so please wear warm layers of clothing
Each session is two hours long, but we anticipate that most sessions will last about one hour, allowing time for preparation and question & answers at the end.
