Intro to Arduino: How to use electronics to make your projects better!
Event Information
Description
- Do you want to make your creative project more interesting? Maybe you want to add lights, sound effects, motors, control and interactivity?
- Have your heard about the Arduino but dont really know what it means?
- Maybe you have bought an Arduino but dont know where to get started?
The Arduino microcontroller has taken the maker and arts scene by storm. It is a small, cheap, easily programmable 'computer' that can be programmed to do pretty much anything you can imagine. You can flash lights, add user interfaces, control motors, send data to computers, the list is endless.
More details about the arduino are available here: http://www.arduino.cc/
Let James Fowkes and Ian Dickinson guide you through the basics of the Arduino.
You will start by getting a light to flash (the beginning of all great projects), and progress at your own pace to adding switch inputs, controlling a motor and reading analogue sensors.
The session will be from 11am until 4pm with a break for lunch around 1pm.
You can bring along your own Ardunio or there will be both Arduino Unos (£18) and Arduino Starter kits (£30) on sale at lower-than-shop prices - please bring cash if you would like to purchase eiher of these.
Note: Please bring a laptop (if possible, otherwise please notify the organisers) and, if possible, download the Arduino IDE from here: http://www.arduino.cc/
