Intro to Bills - Legal Awareness

Where do you start when dealing with a proposal to introduce a new law into Parliament?

What steps are involved in preparing legislation and who should you involve in the process?

“… a very good overview of the legislative process for Bills … presented in a clear and interesting way … slides were really good and they have been provided so can be referred back to … a very interesting an informative training course.”

“Good pace and interactivity. Complex material delivered in an engaging way. Liked the combination of speakers."

This training is aimed at those with little or no experience of working on a Bill and provides a practical overview of the process of making primary legislation, the key players in the department, government and Parliament and the role of officials.

You’ll learn about:

• HOW a Bill becomes an Act of Parliament

• WHO is involved in Bill work and your relationship to them

• YOUR ROLE in supporting Ministers in Parliament

• WHAT Bill products need to be prepared, alongside the Bill clauses, and who leads on them

• WHERE to turn for more information
