Intro to glaze making

Dates and times
Saturday 16th August 10-4 (half hour break for lunch)
Sunday 17th August 1:30-3:30
Day one we wil be learning the practicalities of glaze making, talking materials, equipment and note keeping.
We will then each work on one type of glaze such as a crawl glaze, oil spot, fake ash etc. using oxides and stains we will show you how to create colour in a base glaze. We will discuss and practise line blends using the glazes we have created.
We will do a few raku glaze tests too and have a raku firing on the afternoon to see how they turn out!
Day two will be looking at the glazes after being fired in the electric kiln overnight to cone 6.
We will discuss why things have happened and what we could do to improve or change them.
