Ready to take your first steps into the world of swing? No partner or experience required!
Join us for our INTRO TO LINDY HOP monthly course, exploring the mother of all swing dances - the Lindy Hop. Created and pioneered by black dancers in Harlem in the late 1920s, Lindy Hop is a partnered swing dance which evolved alongside the swinging jazz rhythms of the time.
In our 4-week blocks, we will cover the basic Lindy Hop rhythms, including 6-count, 8-count and partnered Charleston. We will explore the concept of pulse and groove along with the dynamics of leading and following to help you express yourself as a dancer both individually and within a partnership. All content will be taught within the context of the cultural history of jazz and swing, paying respect to the black originators and innovators of this art form.
