Intro to Navigation and Mountain Safety

Don’t want to be another mountain rescue statistic? Want to avail of the many benefits the great outdoors has to offer but haven't the confidence or knowledge yet to keep yourself and your loved ones safe out on the hill?

Then come and join us for a fun filled day of mountain safety and navigation skills that will literally open a whole new - happier, safer and healthier world to you. Our courses are run by very experienced and super friendly mountain instructors who have years of mountain & rescue experience to learn from.

Every course is tailored to the people on it but you won't need any previous knowledge as we will cover everything from how to read a map and contours to basic compass skills and navigating safely and efficiently using a variety of useful strategies. Our mountain safety aspects will cover what critical steps are needed if you have an accident, how to prevent one and what essential mountain safety equipment you need and how to use it. Be prepared to walk away buzzing and motivated for adventures to come :-)

Where: from our Adventure Hub in Settle, BD24 9PB. Own transport required for practical outdoor sessions nearby. Tea and coffee making facilites on site.

Duration: 10am to 5pm. Maps and compass can be supplied.

Minimum age: Unaccompanied normally 13 yrs. We are fully licensed and insured therefore children can be unaccompanied providing consent given.

Instructor ratio: Maximum 1:6
