Event description

Description

What you Need to Know:

  • Distance: 5km & 8km

  • Run Level: Relaxed*

  • Run Leaders: Frank O'Donnell & Nic Dawson

Runners will get the chance to practice running with head torches in a non-competitive and social group with tips on running using headtorches. We'll cover ground at a relaxed pace stopping regularly to re-group.

5km NIGHTRun

Starting at Milngavie Train Station, this will be a relaxed 5km on varied trails around Milngavie and may include sections of the West Highland Way and the Clyde Coastal Path. We will have plenty of stops to catch a breath, chat and re-group.

This run is aimed at runners who:

    • already enjoy running 5km at a relaxed pace

    • are new to trailrunning and running off-road

    • lack confidence running off-road, alone at night

    • are new to running with head torches or building up experience of night running

    • are looking to build fitness and progress to longer runs

    8km NIGHTRun

Starting at Milngavie Train Station, this 8km Relaxed run will take in varied trails around Milngavie and may include sections of the West Highland Way, Mugdock Country Park and the Clyde Coastal Path. It will be a steady pace (a rough guide of 9-10mins/mile) with some stops to re-group and keep things social.

This run is aimed at runners who:

    • already run 8km at a relaxed pace

    • are new to trailrunning and running off-road

    • are new to running with a headtorch

    • lack confidence running off-road alone

    • are looking to build fitness and progress to longer runs

    What to wear/bring

    • Head torches are mandatory on all NIGHTRuns - no head torch, no run. We will enforce this to ensure runner and group safety

    • Trailrunning shoes are mandatory no trail shoes, no run This is for your safety and that of the group as there may be sections which can be very muddy, slippy and steep which road shoes are not designed for

    • Hat/buff, gloves - recommended in colder weather

    • Waterproof jacket - recommended

    • Food & water - this is optional, but you may want to carry some run food or a water bottle/bladder
