Want to learn how to use power tools, find materials, build and repair things?
Come along to the Woodshop of Recycled Delights' 'Intro to Reclaimed Woodworking' Workshop where you will learn how to use hand and power tools to build with reclaimed wood! Perfect for total beginners!
Working with reclaimed timber not only reduces waste, but also creates great opportunities for artistic creation in garden and furniture design. You will be amazed at what’s possible - seating and social spaces, water-efficient planters, pergolas, and limitless other options!
At this workshop we will guide you through tool use and safety, all the way to building a project as a group. The completed project will then go to support one of our many community garden partners.
We'll take you through:
- The environmental impact of timber waste, and how you can help!
- How to work safely with wood
- Getting started with timber tools: know what to use and how!
- Drill Skills - learn how to confidently use these power tools
- Plenty of practical hands-on time to practice
- Get to make something!
Suitable for ages 16+.
PPE provided. Enclosed footwear must be worn.
Workshop starts at 12pm - please arrive on-time to begin!
We're passionate about supporting people to make whatever they want out of reclaimed material, and the possibilities are truly endless.
We take a co-learning approach, so whilst our facilitators are experienced, they are not experts. Together we can work out how to make or fix things using reclaimed materials.

The GED is an outdoor space, so bring weather-appropriate clothing!
There will also be a short lunch break at 2pm so please bring some lunch with you.
See you there!
Our Ticket System:
WoRD delivers accessible woodworking workshops to people traditionally excluded from carpentry spaces and those who face barriers to access.
We are committed to delivering accessible woodworking workshops to everyone, regardless of what they can afford.
To do this, we have sliding-scale tickets to make sure everyone can join in.
Where your ticket fee goes:
We pay all our team fair rates, and contribute to the venues that host us. Our workshops cost over £900 to run. Your ticket goes towards covering the costs of sessions and funding future workshops, meaning we can keep local people employed, rescue more timber from waste, and offer skill sharing to as many people as possible.
If you can afford to, please purchase a ticket according to our sliding scale:
£25 - a subsidised place, made possible through donations and grant funding
£55 - covers the cost of your attendance
£85 - covers the cost of your attendance, and part of someone else’s
FREE PLACE - We reserve a number of accessible places for people who may face a financial barrier to learning. If this is you, please book one of our 'deposit' places, and we'll make sure your £10 deposit is refunded to you on attendance.
Everyone is welcome to our sessions, no matter what they can afford. If even the refundable deposit is tricky, do get in touch, and we can waive it.
