Smart Towns: Everything you need to know

Smart Towns Wales is a Welsh Government funded programme which supports business, towns and councils to harness the power of data and technology to help regenerate their high streets. This session will provide a comprehensive understanding of what it means to be a smart town, the benefits for your community, and practical steps to move forward.

The best part? You don't need to be a tech expert to make a meaningful impact. Smart technology offers practical solutions to everyday challenges, helping your community thrive.

We’ll walk you through the art of the possible, keeping tech talk to a minimum, focusing on results to save time and money, and help Welsh high streets flourish sustainably.

This workshop will offer an introduction to Smart Towns, highlighting key technologies that make smart towns possible. We will discuss key use cases and how technologies are currently benefiting Welsh smart towns by addressing issues like antisocial behaviour, resource efficiency, sustainability, and revitalizing the high street.

What will the event cover?

1. Defining Smart Towns: Understand the concept of Smart Towns and their core principles.
2. Cost Reduction, Improved Efficiency and Sustainability: Explore how Smart technology enables towns to reduce costs and progress towards sustainable practices

Who is this workshop for?

This session is for town stakeholders, decision makers and anyone with an open mind and an interest in improving their high street. You do not have to be a ‘techy’ person to see the benefits of Smart Towns, and we assume no prior technical knowledge.

This sessionwill be delivered in English. If you would like to register an interest in a Welsh session, please email smarttowns@mentermon.com. A Welsh session will be scheduled once 5 or more people have expressed an interest.

About the speaker

Meet Kiki Rees-Stavros, a key driving force behind the Smart Towns Wales project. As Project Manager, Kiki collaborates closely with businesses, communities, and decision makers, supporting them to use data and technology to regenerate their highstreets.

With a background in language teaching and real-life experience running a successful business, Kiki's focus is squarely on the real-world benefits that businesses and communities can reap. She's all about making things practical and understandable, steering clear of jargon and tech-talk.

Trefi Smart: Popeth sydd angen i chi wybod

Mae Trefi Smart Cymru yn rhaglen a ariennir gan Lywodraeth Cymru sy’n cefnogi busnesau, trefi a chynghorau i harneisio pŵer data a thechnoleg i helpu i adfywio eu strydoedd mawr. Bydd y sesiwn hon yn rhoi dealltwriaeth gynhwysfawr o'r hyn y mae'n ei olygu i fod yn dref Smart, y manteision i'ch cymuned, a chamau ymarferol i symud ymlaen.

Y rhan orau? Nid oes angen i chi fod yn arbenigwr technoleg i gael effaith ystyrlon. Mae technoleg smart yn cynnig atebion ymarferol i heriau bob dydd, gan helpu eich cymuned i ffynnu.

Byddwn yn eich tywys trwy gelfyddyd y posibiliad, gan gadw siarad technoleg i’r lleiafswm, gan ganolbwyntio ar ganlyniadau i arbed amser ac arian, a helpu strydoedd mawr Cymru i ffynnu’n gynaliadwy.

Bydd y gweithdy hwn yn cynnig cyflwyniad i Drefi Smart, gan amlygu technolegau allweddol sy’n gwneud trefi smart yn bosibl. Byddwn yn trafod achosion defnydd allweddol a sut mae technolegau ar hyn o bryd o fudd i drefi Smart Cymru drwy fynd i’r afael â materion fel ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol, effeithlonrwydd adnoddau, cynaliadwyedd, ac adfywio’r stryd fawr.

Beth fydd cynnwys y cwrs?

1. Diffinio Trefi Smart: Deall y cysyniad o Drefi Smart a'u hagwyddorion craidd.
2. Lleihau Costau, Gwell Effeithlonrwydd a Chynaliadwyedd: Archwilio sut mae technoleg Smart yn galluogi trefi i leihau costau a symud ymlaen tuag at arferion cynaliadwy.
3. Straeon Llwyddiant Bywyd Go Iawn: Darganfyddwch enghreifftiau ymarferol o Drefi Smart yng Nghymru, sydd yn arddangos effaith y technolegau hyn.
4. Ariannu ac Adnoddau : Dysgwch am y cyfleoedd ariannu sydd ar gael a chymorth i roi hwb i'ch mentrau Tref Smart.

Ar gyfer pwy mae'r digwyddiad?

Mae’r sesiwn hon ar gyfer rhanddeiliaid tref, y rhai sy’n gwneud penderfyniadau ac unrhyw un sydd â meddwl agored a diddordeb mewn gwella eu stryd fawr. Nid oes rhaid i chi fod yn berson technolegol i weld manteision Trefi Smart, ac nid ydym yn tybio eich bod gennych unrhyw wybodaeth technegol o flaen llaw.

Bydd y sesiynau hyn yn cael eu cyflwyno yn Saesneg. Os hoffech fynegi diddordeb mewn sesiwn Gymraeg, e-bostiwch smarttowns@mentermon.com. Bydd sesiwn Gymraeg yn cael ei threfnu unwaith y bydd 5 neu fwy o bobl wedi mynegi diddordeb.
