Introducing POWER Workshops: Planning Our Way to Energy Resilience
Overview
Free one-hour online session | Tuesday 12 November, 5.30 pm
Led by Joolz Thompson and Bonny Williams, Community Climate Action
How can local communities take charge of their energy future?
Across Essex, towns and villages are exploring practical solutions — from improving energy efficiency to generating and owning renewable power.
The POWER workshops (Planning Our Way to Energy Resilience) help communities create local energy plans that identify priorities, actions and partnerships for a cleaner, fairer, more resilient future.
Developed by Essex County Council in partnership with Community Climate Action, POWER workshops are engaging, inclusive and tailored to local needs.
In this free one-hour webinar, you’ll:
✅ Discover what a POWER workshop involves and how it benefits your community.
✅ Hear examples from early pilot areas.
✅ Learn how to bring a POWER workshop to your town or parish.
Perfect for councillors, parish clerks, community leaders, residents’ groups, and anyone passionate about the future of energy in Essex. This webinar is an introduction to the POWER Programme, a tailored set of support services, with match funding, from Essex County Council.
You'll learn how Town & Parish Councils can support cleaner, greener, cheaper energy for residents and communities.
How to get involved in having a voice and vote in community renewable energy companies, including how surplus (profit) generated can be spent into communities, potentially providing a "precept" for councils to provide services.
