Event description
An introduction to Reading Schools for schools across the Forth Valley and West Lothian Regional Improvement Collaborative.

About this event

Reading Schools is an accreditation programme for schools that are committed to building a culture of reading for their learners and communities. Research proves that reading for pleasure has positive impacts on learners' attainment across the curriculum, supporting wellbeing, critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience.

After 2 successful pilot phases across the FVWL we are now open to all schools from West Lothian, Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire

In this CLPL session we will introduce the Reading Schools programme, our journey so far, evaluation of the pilot, how it works and how you can get involved.

The live sessions are recommended for Head/Depute/Principal Teachers or Literacy Leads/Champions to give them an overview to bring back to their school. We will run further online training sessions for further staff at the beginning of 2021/22 academic year on becoming a Reading School. This session will be recorded and a link shared the following day, so you can attend live or use as part of your following in service days to share with wider staff.
