What: Introduction to Accessibility

Level: Introductory

What you’ll learn:

This session is a high level overview and introduction to what accessibility is and why it matters. The session will cover the following;

  • How you design, build and test for accessibility

  • Who to involve in this work - and who to test your service with

  • Accessibility Design Principles

  • Common barriers people face when using digital services

  • Overview of three different types of assistive technology - screen readers, screen magnifiers and voice activation and how they can help users to independently access government information and services

  • Resources and introduction to the community.

You should attend this session if:

The session is aimed at anyone working on digital services or information who wants an overview of what accessibility is and how to make services accessible.

You should not attend this session if:

You have attended the following training: Government Digital Service Design Training, Service Manager training.

If you are content publisher looking for training on how to create accessible documents, as this is not covered.

This session is only open to government employees only. Please register with your government address.
