Description:
Everyone in a care home setting has a role to play in creating moments of joy and connection. This introductory course provides participants with a foundation in the principles and practice of meaningful activity provision. Together we will explore the importance of engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion for people living in care and introduce the core values of person-centred activity provision. The session will share practical ideas and strategies for planning, delivering, and evaluating activities that bring comfort and purpose to daily life.
Aim:
To introduce care staff and activity providers to the importance and practice of meaningful activity provision in care homes and to build confidence in creating inclusive, engaging experiences that promote wellbeing and connection.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the purpose and value of meaningful activity in supporting wellbeing and quality of life for people living in care homes.
2. Explain the principles of person-centred activity provision and how to apply them in everyday practice.
3. Identify a range of inclusive activities suitable for different interests, preferences, and care settings.
4. Plan and deliver simple, engaging activities that promote participation, enjoyment, and social connection.

As an attendee of the training day you MUST have your camera on during all of the sessions, this is to verify your participation/attendance.
Certificates of attendance will only be issued to attendees who attend for the whole of the session.This course will be delivered via ZOOM and will include, presentations, discussion and reflection, case studies, videos and demonstrations. Please make sure that you are familiar with using ZOOM.
