This introductory course provides an overview of Advance Care Planning (ACP) as a person-centred process that facilitates meaningful discussions between individuals and their care providers about their priorities for care. It highlights the importance of ACP in ensuring individuals feel more involved in decisions and that they reflect what matters most to them.
You will also learn about ReSPECT (Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment), which complements ACP by summarising key emergency care decisions and enables healthcare professionals to make informed choices during a crisis.
Together, ACP and ReSPECT support patient autonomy, uphold dignity, reduce hospital admissions, and foster honest, open discussions.
