Description
The Arduino microcontroller has taken the maker and arts scene by storm. It is a small, cheap, easily programmable 'computer' that can be programmed to do pretty much anything you can imagine. You can flash lights, add user interfaces, control motors, send data to computers, the list is endless.
More details about the Arduino are available at: http://www.arduino.cc
- Do you want to make your creative project more interesting?
- Maybe you want to add lights, sound effects, motors, control and interactivity?
- Have your heard about the Arduino but dont really know what it means?
- Maybe you have bought an Arduino but dont know where to get started?
Let James Fowkes and Ian Dickinson guide you through the basics of the Arduino.
You will start by getting a light to flash (the beginning of all great projects), and progress to adding switch inputs, controlling a motor and reading analogue sensors.
The workshop will start at 11:00 am and run through to 4:00 pm with a break for lunch around 1:00 pm.
Arduino starter kits will be available for use on the day or you can bring your own.
Arduino Unos and Arduino Starter Kits will also be available for purchase at the workshop - please bring cash if you would like to buy either of these.
Feedback from a recent attendee ...
"Attended recent workshop, it really is very professionally run! The trainers inspirational and empathetic to slower learners, supporting material is well organised relevant to the workshop, reasonably paced. The logistics flawless all students had what we needed on a desk when the class started and at each section as we advanced through the projects, Congrats to everyone involved."
Note: You will need to bring a laptop (Windows, Linux or Mac) with the Arduino software installed. Please download the software from: http://www.arduino.cc If you have any difficulty installing the software, then please arrive early and we will do our best to help.
