Introduction to Astro Photography with Ian Glendinning
Event Information
Description
Have you wanted to learn how to take stunning images of the night sky? The Milky Way, the Northern lights, star trail, galaxies, nebulae and the planets? Come along to our introduction.
You will learn what equipment you need and how to set your camera up for basic shots of the sky. We will run through how a DSLR works and how to get the best out of your camera. We will discuss the different equipment that can enhance your night time photography and touch on how to process your images once you have taken them.
This will be followed up by 2 workshops where we will explore in further depth the principles of capturing the images, hopefully with some hands on practical work if the weather is kind. This will be followed by a further workshop where we will deal with processing the images. This is probably the most important part of the whole process – the virtual darkroom where you extract every last bit of data from your stored files. Photoshop is the preferred software, but the principles apply regardless.
No previous experience is necessary, but a basic familiarity with your camera will be useful. A tripod is essential. A cable release or intervalometer makes life easy, but isn’t totally necessary.
