This one day workshop provides an understanding of the 5000 year old system of Ayurveda and its basic principles. Understanding the Doshas and how an imbalance will disturb the flow of energy or ‘Prana’ and how this can manifest as a number of problems until the energy is adjusted. This can be helped by introducing Dinacharya-Ayurvedic lifestyle techniques into our daily lives.
The workshop will cover:
Introduction and history of Ayurveda
The three Doshas or body types and their characteristics
Determining one’s Dosha type
Ayurvedic lifestyle tips - Dinacharya
Marma points (energy points) on the face and neck
Mukhabhyanga-Ayurvedic traditional facelift massage - theory and practice
We have 107 marma points all over our body. There are 37 in the head and shoulder area where, we draw Prana and nutrients in through the senses, nose and mouth. Mukhabyanga-Ayurvedic traditional facelift will give you knowledge of the specific marma points in this area and everyone will have the opportunity to give and receive a Mukhabyanga which will help restore it to its natural balance.
You will need to bring your own table, but most of the day you will be working in pairs, so if you are don't have one or are not able to bring one, it will not be an issue for us to arrange for you to share with someone else. You will need to bring your own pillow, a large and small towel and a small vessel to hold oil.
The cost for the day will be £20 for MTI Members and £40 for non-MTI Members (+ small Eventbrite booking fee). In order to attend you need to hold a recognised Massage Qualification and Anatomy & Pathology or be a current student of MTI. All attendees will receive 5 CPD points and a certificate on completion of the workshop.
Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided. At lunch time, a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, artisan crisps and deli baked cakes, as well as gluten free salad boxes are available for £6 per person (there are lots of options for special diets). You are also welcome to wander into Sheffield and get your own lunch if you would like to. Please give your refreshment requirements when you book your place.
Places for this amazing workshop are limited and must be booked in advance!
