Do you have new trustees on your Board or have you taken on a trustee role yourself? If so, this is an essential course for launching or refreshing your Board career.

C&BS Head of Board Development, Catriona Reynolds, takes new trustees and Board members through their paces in an information-packed, online course.

This course takes place over two online sessions:

Tuesday 20 January 2026 | 9.30am-12.30pm

Tuesday 27 January 2026 | 9.30am-12.30pm

What will you learn?

During the sessions, you’ll explore:

• duties of charitable trustees/board members

• different roles and responsibilities of board members and staff

• meeting management and decision-making

• advocacy and fundraising responsibilities

• the trustee’s role in strategic planning

• understanding the finances

Who is it for?

New trustees and Board members seeking an introduction to their roles and responsibilities. The course will be a blend of slide presentation, practical exercises carried out in smaller groups, and whole group feedback and discussion.

A reading list, with all material available online, is provided in advance of the course to give you background information on different topics. Copies of any exercises will also be sent out in advance so that you can read them.

“Highly recommended. Take time to read the material and around the subject and make the most of the opportunity. You'd be very fortunate to get on the course.”
