Description:

Join finance professionals and lecturers, Tom Elliot and Paul Greatbatch for an Introduction to Bonds, as part of the 2025/26 King’s Economic and Finance Series!

Governments and companies issue debt to finance their activities, in the form of bonds. This lecture explains why investors in bonds need to take a view on inflation and interest rates, to assess the value of bonds, and why a bond’s price is inverse to its yield. We discuss concepts such as coupons, maturity and credit risk.

Tom and Paul work with the Department of Political Economy to deliver an annual series of economics and finance sessions for students to expand their knowledge on equities, bonds, multi-asset funds, emerging market investment, tax and ethics.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the upcoming sessions, and if you attend at least four out of six sessions, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance!
