Learn how to create handcrafted books from a practicing bookbinder at the London Centre for Book Arts.
During this workshop participants will learn how to fold and manipulate paper using specialist bookbinding tools, and will learn how to create a single section, cloth covered case binding with a foil blocked title. These books are ideal for presenting work, sketchbooks, gifts, or as the basis for artist books.
On completion of the workshop students will leave with their own handmade book and the skills to make more at home using minimal equipment.
Introduction to Bookbinding 2 is the second in a three-part series of introductory bookbinding workshops at London Centre for Book Arts. You are encouraged, but not required, to take all three workshops in order. Participants to Introduction to Bookbinding 2 will benefit from techniques learned in '1,' and likewise participants to '3' will benefit from techniques learned in '2.' For a complete beginner, taking all three workshops in order will give you a good foundation in bookbinding.
