The R&D Department is pleased to offer the 'Introduction to Clinical Research at CUH' Training Course.


A two day in-person introductory course for clinical research professionals who:


  • are new to working in a clinical research role
  • have started in such a role on the Cambridge Biomedical Research Campus
  • hold honorary research contracts with CUH or are CUH employees


Main components of day one:


Ethics and the Law in Clinical Research

Research Governance, HRA and the MHRA

Data Governance in clinical research

Patient and Public Involvement and research dissemination

Introduction to Local Portfolio Management Systems (EDGE)

RDN Patient Research Experience Survey (PRES)

Delivering portfolio research including NIHR / RDN & funding overview


Main components of day two:


Understanding and applying key concepts relevant to clinical research ethics, including HRA REC ‘approval’, consenting and recruiting participants

Understanding key documents and study personnel roles in research

Safety reporting in clinical research

Practical tips for screening and recruiting participants


The course is a joint initiative facilitated by the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre, CUH Department for Research & Development and Clinical Education Support & Research Team.
