Introduction to Coaching for People Managers

The aim of this workshop is to introduce coaching as a way of working and a useful tool in good people management. In this practical workshop, drawing on current issues put forward by the group, attendees will observe and try out coaching in order to walk away with a better understanding of what coaching is, how it works and how it could benefit their particular organisation. 

Coaching in the workplace is about leaders and managers engaging people in different conversations that are less directive and that empower staff (and volunteers) to make and execute decisions in their role. 

This workshop will cover:

  • What is coaching? – The difference between coaching and mentoring
  • The skills, attitude and mindset needed to coach
  • A basic coaching model (GROW)
  • How to form good questions
  • Coaching practice in small groups using authentic problems

 

 

Trainer Bio: Wellcome 

The workshop is being run by the Transformation & Development team at Wellcome, headed by Sherrie Charlton, and supported by Amanda Berzins Learning and Development Adviser, and other team  members Claire Fenton and Niki Taigel who are qualified coaches.

 At Wellcome the team work to enable all staff to do their very best  work as they grow and develop, as well as driving and shaping the  organisation to achieve its mission. As a culture Wellcome works to  promotes self-responsibility through adopting a coaching culture.



Workshop: 
We ask that all attendees arrive at 12.30pm for registration. A sandwich lunch will be provided by Wellcome to start the workshop at 1.00pm.

The venue is a 5 minute walk from Euston train station and 5 minutes from Warren Street Underground station.

Booking:

You need to be a member of the Small Charities Coalition in order to attend. If you haven't already you can register for free here.


Waitlist:

If the places have all been filled please do add your details to the waitlist and we will let you know as soon as a place becomes available.

Cancellations and Refunds:
If you cancel your place at least 2 full working days before the event takes place then you are entitled to a full refund by request. Refunds for cancellations after this point are given at the discretion of Small Charities Coalition.

If you cannot make a workshop please advise us as soon as possible. Workshops normally have a waitlist and if you notify us early enough then there's a good chance another charity can attend in your place.
