About this event

  • Event lasts 7 hours

Hosted by Guy Fearon, 10am - 5pm on Saturday 28th June at the Psychosynthesis Trust

This workshop will serve to familiarise you with the coaching approach and with various options for incorporating it into your career.

There are a number of characteristics that coaching as a discipline shares with the field of counselling/psychotherapy. Both are concerned with what we might broadly label as human development, growth or learning. Both therefore utilise theories of change and both professions are home to practitioners with a wide range of theoretical perspectives. Both are thought to be ‘helping’ professions and are largely non-directive in nature.

This overlap means that (a) if you are interested in moving into the world of professional coaching you will find that as a counsellor or therapist you already have knowledge and skills that are highly applicable, and (b) if you are simply interested in finding out more about what ‘coaching’ means, you will almost certainly find that you are already coaching your clients at times.

"This workshop is highly experiential in nature, and participants will be taking part in practicums throughout the day. Also, please note that although we will be looking at some of the developments regarding coaching in the field of psychosynthesis, this is not a workshop focussed on psychosynthesis coaching but rather a general look at coaching approaches."

Who is it for?

This workshop is open to all who are interested in understanding more about the field of coaching, but is particularly focussed on those already qualified as therapists or counsellors.
