If you are an ONS staff member this course is free. Please register for a ticket.
Government Statistical Service
If you are a civil servant in a government department other than ONS, you will be sent an application form after you have registered. You must provide a purchase order number when you return this form. The fee for this course is £116.
The aim of this course is to teach basic R programming skills to those who have not used it before, so that participants can:
- Use R for statistical data analysis,
- Begin to evaluate the performance of R.
By the end of the session, the participants will:
- have a working knowledge of the R environment and will be able to provide a basic explanation of how R works to a colleague,
- with reference to course notes, be able to successfully import and export data sets from R,
be able to use R functions to successfully produce statistical summaries of example data sets,
be able to successfully merge data sets and perform basic data manipulation in R whilst referring to course notes,
be aware of additional resources on help and guidance to continue their own learning.
The course is lead by experts from the Office for National Statistics - Data Science Campus.
