Overview
Throughout this course, you will acquire a range of valuable learning outcomes. We will cover the legal and ethical considerations, as well as the guidelines and protocols that govern the provision of contraception services
Course content/learning outcomes
By the end of this session attendees will have a greater awareness of:
To improve basic knowledge of all methods of contraception including Oral Contraception, Injectable contraception and Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)
To give clinicians the confidence to discuss of all methods with patients, including signposting for LARC
To enable clinicians to offer general contraceptive consultations after a period of supervised practice (it is expected that delegates are able to ‘repeat’ contraceptives, rather than initiate them).
To work within UKMEC Guidance to ensure contraceptive choices are appropriate and safe
Feel confident in giving follow-up Depo-Provera injections and giving appropriate advice Ensure that all medications are given or advised using ‘Patient Specific Directions’ and how we can manage this in General Practice
Understand the importance of a good referral pathway for all methods
