Event description

Description

This two-day course provides an overview of coordination mechanisms in the humanitarian sector in Myanmar and introduces participants to communication and leadership tactics to operate within this sphere.

The first day begins by looking at humanitarian coordination and formation of the cluster system, as well as an overview of the system in Myanmar. Building on this we then look to define the competencies needed for coordination within and across technical sectors, analyse the core functions of coordination, and finally look at ways to ensure a service-oriented approach to aid.

The second day of the course begins with sessions on decision making for coordinators and prioritisation of activities in response, and looks at communication for leadership in collaborative settings.

The course concludes with a simulation exercise of a coordination meeting which allows participants to test their skills and knowledge of the system.

This course is appropriate for national and international staff working in or moving into coordination roles who are looking to sharpen their skills and knowledge of the coordination system and those operating within it.

The course fee includes tea/coffee on arrival, with lunch and refreshments throughout the course. It is not a residential course, so participants will be responsible for providing their own transport and accommodation.
